Akina Mama wa Africa (AMwA) is an international, Pan African
non governmental development organisation for women based in Africa and in the United Kingdom. Akina Mama wa Afrika (Swahili for ‘Solidarity among African women’) was established in 1985 to create space for African women to organise themselves and to identify issues of concern to them.
